Three fires on two separate properties intentionally set

Fire officials in Matlock say that three fires on two separate properties on Chalet Beach Road were intentionally set and that at one of the locations they found gas pails and splashed gas.

The first fire started around 5:30 am in a storage building.

Ninety minutes later, just after 7:00 am a second fire was reported to the Matlock Fire Hall. This one was about a kilometre down the road from the first morning blaze. When crews arrived they found a shed fully involved

and a second fire had been set in some shutters that were leaning up against a cottage. Crews were able to put out the fire beside the cottage, saving the building

Fire officials say the investigation into the fires is ongoing.
