Just before 3:oo am on Wednesday, September 12, 2018 fire crews responded to a fire a the rear of the Palliser Furniture plant between McLeod Avenue and Furniture Park just east of Gateway Road.
Smoke could be seen billowing out behind the building as multiple crews arrived to put out the fire. A second alarm was called in by fire crews in order to increase manpower and equipment.
Although the fire was outside the building a search of the structure was undertaken to ensure that the fire had not spread to it.
Fire officials say that the fire destroyed two semi-trailers and damaged three others. Crews were able to knock down the blaze and get it under control in under 30 min.
Residents in the area told News 4 that three loud bangs were heard in the area of the blaze before firefighters arrived on scene.
It is not known at this time what started the fire but according to officials on scene, the blaze is suspicious and the Arson squad will be investigating.
No one was injured and there is no estimate for the damage caused.
