Four youth and adult female have been arrested and charged in connection with multiple fires set in the Transcona Bioreserve.
Police say that on May 27, 2018, a number of fires were set just after 2:30 am. Later in the day, around 5:00 pm, a number of other fires were set in the same area.
Damage was caused to more than 100 acres of the bioreserve and a number of hydro poles also caught fire as a result of the arson.
Witnesses pointed officers to the Transcona Trail and three suspects were arrested. A fourth suspect turned herself into police and a fifth was arrested at a home in the early morning hours of May 28, 2018.
All five suspects, a 14-year-old female, two 16-year-old males, a 17-year-old female and an 18-year-old female face arson-related charges.
The 14-year-old was detained in custody, the others were released on promises to appear in court.
