In November 2023 Winnipeg Police Service began a months-long investigation into the illegal sale of tobacco and cannabis products.
Both products are age restricted but during the investigation officers learned that both had been made available to customers of all ages at two convenience stores.
On March 18, 2024, police along with officers from the taxation department executed search warrants at businesses on Stadacona Street and Salter Street. More than $11,000 in cash and cartons of illegal tobacco and cannabis products were seized.
For men aged, 34, 37, 37 and 41 were arrested and facing charges related to contravening the above Provincial Acts and Possession of Proceeds Obtained by Crime.
All four men were released on undertakings.
