ARRESTED | WINNIPEG POLICE BUST QUEBEC MAN IN HUMAN TRAFFICKING CASE

Winnipeg Police have busted a 23 year old Quebec man on human trafficking charges.

On December 16, 2016, the WPS responded to a downtown hotel, to check the well-being a 23 year old female.

Police had received a report that the woman was being held against her will and forced to work as an escort at a number of Winnipeg hotels.

According to investigators she had been driven to Winnipeg from Montreal on December 4, 2016 for the sole purpose of working in the sex trade and threatened if she didn’t comply.

Police took the woman into care and arrested Garlin Voyant CANDY, 23 from Quebec.

Officers also identified a 19 year old female however she claimed to be the accused’s girlfriend.

For his alleged involvement Candy was charged with Trafficking in Persons, Advertising Sexual Services, Assault with a Weapon.

He has been remanded in custody

Members of the Winnipeg Police Service Counter Exploitation Unit are continuing to investigate.
