As News 4 told you on May 23, 2018, a 2013 Toyota Corolla was stolen at gunpoint from a 48-year-old woman in the 1000 block of McGregor Street on May 22, 2018.
Police said that two males approach the woman who was sitting in the car and armed with a handgun demanded she get out. The pair then got into the vehicle and drove off. A search of the area did not locate the suspects or vehicle.
On May 24, 2018, police spotted the stolen car on Portage Avenue at St. James Street. It was speeding at the time. Officers followed and saw it turn off near Ferry Road. As officers searched the area they found a woman walking on the street who matched the description of the driver. She was arrested.
When the vehicle was recovered by police the forensics unit was able to identify another possible suspect in the theft.
On May 28, 2018, Blake Allen Morand, 31 from Winnipeg was arrested in the 600 block of Arlington Street standing behind another vehicle that had been stolen on May 12, 2018. He was arrested and charged with Possess Property Obtained by Crime Over $5000 X2, Possess Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000 and Theft Under $5000.
The second male suspect has not yet been arrested.
Police continue to investigate.
