ARREST | MAN BUSTED FOR ROBBERY AND MULTIPLE BREAK-INS

 A 26-year-old male victim was assaulted and knocked to the ground in the area of Enfield Crescent and Goblet Street on August 6, 2016 at about 2:45 am. The victim is restricted to a wheelchair for mobility. A male suspect covered his face with a bandana and approached the victim at which point the assault took place according to police. The victim, unable to defend himself, was robbed of several personal effects and the suspect fled the area.

A bystander helped the victim back into his wheelchair but left before police arrived on scene.

The suspect proceeded to the 400 block of Ritchot Street where he broke into a detached garage. He then went to the 400 block of Langevin Street where he attempted to break into another detached garage and broke into a nearby vehicle.

Police responding to the area located and arrested the suspect. 

Brendan Andrew Mitchell, 23-years-old from Selkirk, has been charged with the following offences for his alleged involvement:

– Robbery
– Disguise with Intent
– Break & Enter – Commit Theft
– Break & Enter – With Intent
– Theft – Under $5,000

He has been detained in custody.

WPS investigators believe that the bystander who assisted the victim in the wheelchair may have witnessed the assault. Winnipeg Police Service is asking this male or anyone with information regarding this incident to contact investigators with the East District Crime Unit at (204) 986-2868.
