Winnipeg Police have arrested and charged a 25-year-old male in connection to a stabbing outside the New West Hotel on Main Street Tuesday, January 7, 2020.
Police say the 25-year-old victim had walked into the hotel around 7:30 am Tuesday suffering from stab wounds. He was taken to hospital in stable condition.
Investigators identified the suspect and found him inside the hotel several hours after the stabbing. While he was being arrested he resisted and threatened officers as he reached for a concealed knife.
The officers were able to take him into custody safely.
Police say that the suspect and victim got into an altercation outside the hotel. The suspect then allegedly hit the victim with an imitation gun and stabbed him several times.
A search warrant was executed on one of the suites in the hotel and officers uncovered an imitation firearm and a second knife.
Justin Tyler Daniel Dumas, 25 is facing charges for his alleged involvement including Aggravated Assault, Assault with a Weapon, Possession of a Weapon (x2), Carrying Concealed Weapon Prohibited Device or Ammunition (x2), Resist Peace Officer, Assault a Peace Officer (x2), Uttering Threats, Cause Death or Bodily Harm (x2) three counts of Fail to Comply with Condition of Release Order.
Dumas was detained in custody
