Just before 10:30 am on Sunday, April 1, 2018, Brandon Police were called to a home in the 1200 block of Rosser Avenue.
Police say a woman reported and said that a man had grabbed her throat and threatened to kill her. The victim also reported that the suspect had a gun in the waistband of his pants.
Officers stopped the vehicle the man had been reported in a short time later in the 1800 block of McTavish Avenue. Police say that it was a high-risk takedown but that they did not locate a gun. They did, however, find a large machete that was sitting on the seat beside the suspect.
Police arrested a 42-year-old male from Sydney, Manitoba. He is facing charges for his alleged involvement with Assault, Threats, Carry Concealed Weapon.
The accused was released on a promise to appear in court at the end of May.
