Around 1:00 am on Thursday, April 6, 2023, an armoured truck hit a concrete pillar for the skywalk system and then flipped over.

One of the guards was able to exit the vehicle but the driver was trapped inside.

When police arrived they provided emergency medical care to the person who was able to free themselves.

Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service was called in and extricated the driver. Both of the victims were taken to hospital in unstable condition and later upgraded to stable.

Major Crimes Unit investigators learned that after the vehicle had flipped someone may have approached the scene and stolen some property from the vehicle before fleeing.
