Crime spree ends after police arrest a male and female robbers

 

Winnipeg Police say that on Tuesday night April 3, 2018, around 10:45 pm, officers responded to a hold-up alarm in the first 100 block of St. Anne’s Road. When they arrived they were told that the business had been robbed by a man armed with a handgun and took off in a waiting vehicle.

As officers in the area were patrolling they located the suspect vehicle and gave chase. The vehicle stopped around St. Mary’s Road and Sherwood Place and the male bolted. The female driver was arrested.

Officers called in support from Air-1, K-9 and tactical units and conducted a search of the area. The male suspect was located in the first 100 block of Sunset Boulevard.

Police were able to seize the firearm used in the robbery as well as recover the stolen cash.

Investigators have also linked the pair to a dozen other robberies across the city as well as one in Selkirk.

There were no injuries reported in any of the robberies but money was stolen at each location.

Police say the businesses targeted by the suspects were:

  • February 9, 2018 – Business in the 700 block of St Marys Rd.
  • February 23, 2018 – Business in the 1500 block of Main St.
  • March 7, 2018 – Business in the 1600 block of Henderson Hwy.
  • March 8, 2018 – Business in the first 100 block of Main St. in Selkirk, Manitoba
  • March 8, 21018 – Business in the 3000 block of Portage Ave.
  • March 17, 2018 – Business in the 1800 block of Grant Ave.
  • March 18, 2018 – Business in the 1600 block of Henderson Hwy.
  • March 20, 2018 – Business in the 1100 block of Henderson Hwy.
  • March 24, 2018 – Business in the 600 block of Osborne St.
  • March 27, 2018 – Business in the 200 block of Henderson Hwy.
  • March 30, 2018 – Business in the 600 block of Osborne St.
  • April 2, 2018 – Business in the 2000 block of Portage Ave.

27-year-old Julie Penner from Winnipeg is facing 13 counts of Armed Robbery using a firearm for her alleged involvement

Craig Dorland Robert Hall, 32 from Winnipeg has been charged for his alleged involvement with:

  • Armed Robbery using a Firearm X14
  • Carry Concealed Weapon, Prohibited Device or Ammunition X13
  • Possess Weapon X13
  • Disguise with Intent X13
  • Use of Firearm During Commission of an Indictable Offence X13
  • Possession of Firearm, Restricted/Prohibited Weapon or Ammunition Contrary to Prohibition Order X39
  • Pointing a Firearm X9

Both have been remanded into custody.
