Two facing armed robbery, weapon charges in shooting

Two men have been arrested and charged with a number of armed robbery and firearm offences after a 24-year-old female was shot Wednesday morning.

Police say that around 3:10 am on Wednesday, April 18, 2018, they sent units to the 200 block of Selkirk Avenue after receiving a call reporting a woman had been shot.

The victim was taken to hospital by paramedics in unstable condition but has since improved and is now in stable condition.

Investigators quickly identified two suspects in the case and on Thursday, April 19, 2018, placed them under arrest.

Joshua Michael Courchene, 25, has been charged for his alleged involvement with:

  •  Armed Robbery using a Firearm x 2
  • Use Firearm during the Commission of an Indictable Offence
  • Possession of a Weapon x 2
  • Carry Concealed Weapon x 2
  • Possession of Firearm Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized
  • Possess Firearm x 2
  • Discharge Firearm With Intent
  • Fail to Comply Probation

Ryan Frederick Johnston, 28, has been charged for his alleged involvement with:

  • Armed Robbery using a Firearm x 2
  • Possession of Firearm Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized

Both men were detained in custody.
