Man used bicycle pump as “gun” in theft, facing armed robbery charges

Winnipeg Police have arrested and charged a 40-year-old male who allegedly robbed a liquor store early Wednesday evening, June 19, 2019.

Police say the man went into the Liquor Mart in the 300 block of Ellice Avenue armed with what employees and customers described as a gun.

Officers located the suspect nearby and as they approached, the suspect pulled out what appeared to be a firearm from his waistband. He then “adopted a shooting stance” according to police and pointed the weapon at officers.

Officers opted to not shoot the suspect and waited until backup arrived.

Once other units arrived the man was disarmed and taken into custody.
