RCMP in Selkirk was able to capture an armed robber after he crashed his getaway car moments after robbing a Selkirk business.
On Friday, June 26, 2020, police were called to an armed robbery around 11:45 pm after a male had entered a Main Street business holding a knife and wearing a balaclava.
The robber demanded cigarettes and cash before fleeing and then crashing into a nearby hydro pole.
Witnesses to the crash told police th suspect had fled on foot.
As some officers patrolled the area, others went to the home of vehicle’s owner.

While police were speaking to the owner they noticed a male at the home who was wearing clothes and had tattoos that matched the description of the suspect.
37-year-old John Adam Curwin from Selkirk was arrested and charged for his alleged involvement with Robbery with a Weapon, Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose and was remanded into custody.
RCMP continue to investigate.
