RCMP responded to an armed robbery on Monday night, March 8, 2021, at a business on Wasagamack First Nation.
Police say the male suspect entered the store wearing a bandana over his face and brandishing a firearm. He demanded cash and cigarettes before fleeing.
First Nation Safety Officers and other members of the community saw the suspect flee on foot. The area was contained and officers determined that the male was inside his residence. Police called the home, spoke with the suspect and asked him to surrender. The suspect cooperated with officers, exited the home and was taken into custody without incident.
Police found the cigarettes, bandana and firearm were found inside the suspect residence. The firearm turned out to be an imitation.
23-year-old Fletcher Wood has been charged for his alleged involvement with Robbery with a Firearm, Pointing a Firearm, Carrying a Concealed Weapon, Possession of a Weapon for Dangerous Purpose, Mischief, Possession of Property Obtained by Crime and Possession of a Firearm while Prohibited.
He was detained in custody.
