Mini crime spree nets criminal charges and not much else
Winnipeg Police have a 45-year-old man in custody after he used a knife in four armed robberies over the weekend.
It all began on Friday afternoon, August 18, 2017, around 1:30 pm. The suspect walked into a gas station in the 2200 block of Pembina Highway, threatened staff with a knife and walked out with an undisclosed amount of cash.
On Saturday, August 19, 2017, around 12:30 pm the suspect walked into the same gas station he had robbed 23 hours earlier. He again produced a knife but this time he did not get any money.
He then attempted to rob a drugstore in the same block of Pembina as the gas station a few hours later, around 4:30 pm. Again he produced a knife and again he was denied any cash.
15 minutes later, about 4:45 pm the suspect once again tried to knock off the gas station for the third time. He confronted an employee with a knife but once more left without any money.
Police responded to the robbery and were able to located and arrest the suspect a short time later in the area.
Charged with four counts of robbery, four counts of possession of a weapon and carry concealed weapon for his alleged involvement is Darryl Joseph Desjarlais from Winnipeg.
He was detained in custody.
