ARMED ROBBER BUSTED AFTER HITTING FOUR BUSINESSES

The crime spree began Friday, June 23, 2017 and for the next 24 hours a Cross Lake man robbed or attempted to rob a number of Winnipeg businesses  around the city.
Just after 3:30 pm the suspect walked into a pharmacy in the first 100 block of Osborne Street. He had covered his face and armed with a blunt object he tried to rob the store but was unsuccessful. He left empy-handed
A half hour later the suspect again attempted a robbery. This time he hit a grocery store on River Avenue. Again he hid his face but this time he carried a knife. He approached the owner of the business and her child soon fled with cash and merchandise.
The man was back at it later in the evening. Around 11:30 pm he entered a gas station in the 1300 block of Taylor Avenue and robbed the business of cash before fleeing.
Fast forward to Saturday afternoon and the suspect was once again attempted to knock over a business. This time it was a beer vendor on Keewatin Street. He was not successful.
As a member of the K-9 unit was responding to the robbery he noticed the suspect in the 1500 block of Notre Dame Avenue and placed him under arrest.
34 year old Brendon Malcolm McIvor from Cross Lake has been charged for his alleged involvement in these robberies with Robbery (x4), Disguise with intent (x4) and carry a concealed weapon.
McIvor remains in custody.
