Winnipeg Police received a number of 911 calls on Thursday morning, June 11, 2020, after a man pulled out a gun behind the Centennial Concert Hall.
Police say the male appeared to be on Meth when they found him.
Prior to their arrival the male allegedly fractured a large granite slab and then smashed a window in the concert hall before breaking into the building.
He was confronted by concert hall security and left the building. Once outside he pulled out a handgun and began terrorizing nearby pedestrians.
As officers confronted the male suspect he tossed the gun aside but refused to comply when officers ordered him to the ground. One of the officers was assaulted and the suspect was then forced to the ground.
Arresting officers struggled with the male as they attempted to place him in handcuffs. A knife and heavy bar were found in the mans possession.
The handgun was recovered by officers.
A 33-year-old male was charged for his alleged involvement with Possess Weapon x 3, Assault Police Officer, Resist Police Officer, Mischief Over $5,000 x 2, Commercial Break and Enter, Fail to Comply with Probation Order and Arrest Warrant outstanding.
He was detained in custody.
The total cost of damages to the granite slab and concert hall window is $17,000.
