Man robs three banks over three months
Winnipeg police have captured a 35 year old bank robber. Ortez Elmer ARGUETA, 35 from Winnipeg was arrested February 17, 2017 for his alleged involvement in a series of three bank robberies.
It began December 16, 2016 when the suspect entered a bank in the 500 block of Sargent Avenue and demanded money.
On December 30, 2016 the lone robber entered a bank in the 600 block of Osborne Street and fled with an undisclosed amount of cash.
On February 14, 2017 the suspect went back to the scene of his last robbery and hit them again.
Police say that on at least two of the robberies the suspect indicated that he had a gun.
Police were able to identify the suspect during their investigation.
Argueta has been charged with the following:
- Armed Robbery using a Firearm x 2
- Disguise with Intent x 2
- Robbery
- Unlawfully at Large
- Possession of a Weapon x 2
- Possession of Firearm, Restricted/Prohibited Weapon or Ammunition Contrary to Probation Order x 2
- Uttering Threats – Cause Death or Bodily Harm
- Assault with a Weapon
- Possession of a Scheduled Substance – Cannabis
He was remanded into custody.
