Armed and barricaded incident ends peacefully

RCMP responded to an armed and barricaded incident late Saturday night, October 16, 2021, in Broad Valley, Manitoba.

Police say that around 10:35 pm they received a report of an assault at the home. Officers were also told the 49-year-old male suspect had also taken several firearms into the garage.

Police from Fisher Branch and Arborg contained the area while waiting for the Emergency Response Team to arrive.

Shortly after the ERT arrived around 2:20 am the suspect came out of the garage and was arrested without incident.

Officers searched the garage and found four long barrelled firearms.

The suspect is facing assault and firearm related offences for his alleged involvement. He was released from custody the next day and is scheduled to appear in court on January 11, 2022.

RCMP continue to investigate.
