Two men are in custody after a gun was allegedly pointed at security staff in an Arlington Street Bar.
Police say they were called to the establishment just before 10:00 pm on Saturday night, May 4, 2019 after receiving a number on calls to 911.
Air-1 was first on scene as officers from the Tactical Support Team and Central District Patrol made their way to the bar.
Officers on the ground learned that the suspects had purchased alcoholic beverages at the bar and attempted to leave with them. When security refused to let them leave with the booze one of the men pulled a handgun and pointed at them. The men then fled on foot.
Air-1 spotted a male running in the lane behind Alexander Avenue and directed ground units to him. The suspect was taken into custody after he was found attempting to hide in a yard in the 800
The second male made his way back to the bar where staff recognized him and pointed him out to officers. He was arrested. A search of the suspect uncovered a knife and three small bags of a substance believed to be cocaine.
Brock James Swampy, 22 from Winnipeg has been charged for his alleged involvement with:
- Possession of a Weapon
- Carrying Concealed Weapon Prohibited Device or Ammunition
- Pointing a Firearm
- Possession of a Firearm Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized
- Possession of Firearm, Restricted/Prohibited Weapon or Ammunition Contrary to Prohibition Order (x2)
- Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Firearm with Ammunition
Braedon Lee Gordon, 18 from Winnipeg has been charged for his alleged involvement with:
- Assault
- Possession of a Weapon
- Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking Cocaine
- Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000
- Fail to Comply Condition Recognizance by Judge/Justice (x4)
- Fail to Comply with Sentance (x2) – Outstanding Warrants
Both suspects were detained in custody.
