Arcs and sparks light up night sky as garage burns

Minutes after midnight on October 30, 2021, Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service were called to a large fire behind a vacant home in the 400 block of Stella Avenue.

Flames could be seen from several blocks away as crews arrived to a fully involved fire in a detached garage.

Crews immediately attacked the fire using hand lines and had the fire knocked down within 20 minutes.

Residents in a neighbouring home were temporarily evacuated as a precaution. No injuries were reported at the time of the fire.

The fire was so intense that it set a hydro line on fire causing the wires to arc and fall to the ground.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
