Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) crews responded to a significant apartment fire in the 500 block of Simcoe Street on Sunday afternoon.
At 2:19 p.m., emergency services were dispatched following reports of heavy smoke emanating from the multi-unit residential building. Upon arrival, firefighters observed substantial smoke and immediately initiated an interior attack on the blaze.
Crews worked swiftly to contain the fire, successfully bringing it under control by 2:43 p.m., approximately 24 minutes after their arrival.
Paramedics on scene assessed one individual, but no transportation to hospital was required.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation by WFPS officials. No estimates regarding the extent of the damage have been released at this time.
