Angry customer throws coffee at store owner, assault charges laid

Winnipeg Police Service has arrested and charged a 34-year-old female after she allegedly threw a coffee at the owner of a coffee shop on Friday, March 8, 2024.

According to police the incident happened around 12:20 pm in the underground concourse of Winnipeg Square. When the suspect did not have enough money to pay for the items she ordered she was asked to leave the business say police. The suspect became angry the threw the coffee and physically assaulted the owner of the business.

The 47-year-old female victim was assessed by paramedics and medically cleared at the scene.

The suspect fled but was apprehended by three adult male passersby who held her for police. Two of the men were assaulted by the suspect and suffered minor injuries.

The suspect was taken into custody and has been charged for her alleged involvement with three counts of Assault, Assault with a Weapon, and Assault Cause Bodily Harm.

The suspect was released from custody on an Undertaking as mandated by the Criminal Code of Canada.
