Alleged Carjacker Assaults Police and Crashes into a Firetruck

On Tuesday, June 20, 2023, police in Winnipeg received a report of a carjacking in the 100 block of Pacific Avenue.

The female victim was seated in her vehicle around 4:30 pm when an unknown female opened the driver’s door and pulled the woman from her car. The suspect fled in the victim’s vehicle.

The driverof the vehicle was not physically injured.

Three hours later the vehicle was spotted by officers in the 300 block of Kennedy Street as they attended an unrelated matter with Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service. Officers approached the driver and ordered her to exit the vehicle. The driver refused and put the car into reverse hitting a nearby officer. The vehicle then crashed into a fire engine, knocked over a light standard and drove away.

The officer required medical attention for his injuries.

Shortly afterwards police received reports that a vehicle matching the description of the stolen vehicle was driving erratically in the 900 block of Milt Steal Drive. Tactical Support Team members located the vehicle parked nearby and took the driver into custody.

28-year-old Klarissa Faye Muswagon has been charged for her alleged involvement with:

  • Robbery
  • Assault a Peace Officer with a Weapon x 2
  • Fail to Stop at Scene of Accident
  • Dangerous Oper of a Conveyance
  • Operation of a Conveyance While Prohibited by Order Under Criminal Code

Muswagon was detained in custody.
