Alleged Brandon arsonist arrested after four overnight fires

Brandon Police have arrested a 17-year-old male after four overnight arsons in the Wheat City.

Police say that in a span of about 30 minutes four fires were set with in a 10 block radius. A shed, trees, a dumpster and a porch were all set ablaze between 3:40 and 4:15 am on Friday May 10, 2019.

Firefighters evacuated several homes as a precaution while they worked to contain and extinguish the fires.

The suspect was found near one of the fire scenes and has been charged for his alleged involvement with Arson with Disregard for Human Life, Arson Causing Damage to Property, and Possession of Incendiary Material. 

Police say that although they are not looking for any other suspects in the case they are still investigating in cooperation with the Office of the Fire Commissioner.
