Winnipeg police have arrested a 50-year-old male in connection to multiple fires including the one that killed 60-year-old Jung Shin on Sunday, August 15, 2021.

Investigators say that they were in the 300 block of Stradbrook Avenue on Thursday evening, August 19, 2021 when they spotted a male matching the description of the suspect related to the fires. The man tried to flee from police but was apprehended after a brief foot pursuit.
Douglas Wayne Last has been charged for his alleged involvement with Manslaughter, Three counts of Arson with Disregard for Human Life and two counts of Fail to Comply with Condition of Release Order.
He was detained in custody.
