Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service investigators are looking into the cause of an overnight fire on Alfred Street.
Around 2:30 am On January 15, 2020, firefighters were called to a vacant single-storey duplex in the 600 block.
When they arrived on scene heavy smoke and flames were coming from the structure.
A defensive attack was launched from outside the building eventually transitioning into an interior attack once conditions improved.
The blaze was declared under control at 4:15 am.
Fire crews searched the building and did not find anyone inside. No injuries were reported.
During the fire two nearby homes were evacuated as a safety precaution.
The structure suffered significant damage due to the fire, smoke and water used to put it out.
