When you look down at your cell phone after hearing a distinct emergency tone on Wednesday fear not.
At 1:55 pm local time Alert Ready will be running a national test of the National Public Alerting System.
Manitoba Emergency Measures Organization is hoping the majority of Manitoban’s receive the emergency test message on their wireless devices but know some will not.
If your device is older and not compatible with the system or not connected to an LTE carrier network you won’t get the message. You could also not receive the warning test if you are outside a cellular coverage area or have issues with settings or software on your phones.
