RCMP are investigating a fatal rollover on the Lake St. Martin First Nation on Tuesday, September 7, 2021.
According to police the rollover occurred just after 10:00 pm on Memorial Crescent in the community. An ATV was being driven by a 39-year-old male with two passengers and as he tried to make a turn he lost control of the vehicle. The ATV entered a ditch then rolled, ejecting the three males.
A 25-year-old Dauphin River man was pronounced dead at the scene. The other passenger, a 23-year-old male, was not injured.
Police have arrested the driver of the ATV and have charged him for his alleged involvement with Refusal to Comply with Breath Demand in an Accident Resulting in Death.
He was detained in custody.
Investigators say that none of the men were wearing helmets at the time of the rollover and alcohol and speed are believed to be factors in the incident.
The investigation continues.
