Alberta clipper expected to roll across southern Manitoba Monday

Canada’s national weather forecaster is projecting an Alberta clipper will be rolling through the southern part of Manitoba beginning on Monday, January 31, 2022.

According to Environment Canada the storm will “bring a swath of heavy snow from the Parklands region eastwards towards the Ontario border and south towards the Trans Canada Highway.”

The heaviest snowfall is expected to fall in Parklands and Interlake district over to the Whiteshell and up to Berens River. Total accumulations could be as high as 15 cm.

High winds are expected Monday evening into Tuesday morning with gusts in some areas reaching 80-90 kmh.

As conditions improve on Tuesday a blast of Aric air will move into the region bringing with it temperatures hovering near -30c into the weekend.

The City of Winnipeg said on Sunday that they are monitoring road conditions and are ready to apply sand to improve traction throughout the city as it is required.

Parking on snow routes between 2:00 am and 7:00 am may result in your vehicle being ticket or towed. The Annual Snow Route Parking Ban is still in effect.
