At about 3:10 am on Wednesday, December 8, 2021, Winnipeg Police Service helicopter AIR-1 spotted a structure fire on Clifton Street near St. Mathews Avenue. As firefighters were en route, officers saw several explosions coming from the garage.
Smoke and flames were coming from the fully-involved fire and a defensive attack was launched. It was determined that the explosions spotted by AIR-1 were a result of a vehicle fire inside the structure.
Several nearby homes were evacuated as a precaution. No injuries were reported.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
