Winnipeg Police say that if it wasn’t for Air-1 arriving at the scene of a violent attack within minutes the outcome could have been much more tragic.
On October 8, 2019, around 9:00 pm police received a number of calls about a violent assault taking place near Arlington Street and St. Matthews Avenue.
Air-1 responded and was hovering overhead in under two minutes. Once there the flight officer activated the siren on the chopper causing the suspect to take off running.
Air-1 tracked the suspect and directed officers on the ground to a yard on Arlington Street where the assailant was hiding. Patrol units moved in and placed the man in custody.
The victim of the assault, a male in his 20s, was found unconscious. Paramedics took the male to hospital in unstable condition but he has been upgraded too stable.
25-year-old Kyle Arron Woodhouse has been charged for his alleged involvement with Robbery and Aggravated Assault.
He remains in custody.
