11 new graduates of the Advanced Care Paramedic program offered by the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) will soon be on the front lines providing emergency medical care in Winnipeg.
The graduates, all current
The program combined classroom learning as well as practical training in hospital and in the field. Students involved in the training continued to work as front line paramedics while taking the advanced education.
“Advanced Care Paramedics make a significant difference in the lives of many Winnipeggers who require emergency care,” said WFPS Chief John Lane. “As emergency medicine evolves, it is becoming increasingly complex. Our Advanced Care Paramedics embrace these changes and provide the highest level of emergency medicine in any scenario. I congratulate the graduates for this accomplishment and hard work in successfully completing the ACP program.”
The WFPS ACP program is nationally accredited and provides paramedic students a broader understanding of disease and traumatic injury and how to manage it using specialized skills.
