Police looking for child abducted by mother

Winnipeg Police are looking for a mother and her six-year-old daughter after the mother allegedly abducted the girl and brought her to Winnipeg.

Police say 6-year-old Ayla Velic and her 30-year-old mother Elmedina Velic were living in Clinton Township, Michigan. According to investigators, they came to Winnipeg earlier this year. Authorities say that Elmedina did not have permission from the father to leave with the child.

Winnipeg Police and justice officials in the United States are working together in an effort to find the pair.

Members from the Missing Persons Unit say it is possible that the Velics are currently in Ontario. Police do not believe that the child’s safety is at risk.

Elmedina is believed to be driving a 2016 red Nissan Versa with Michigan licence plate # DUE 2506

Anyone with information is asked to call Winnipeg Police at 204-986-6250.
