Two dead in Highway 16 collision

RCMP are investigating a fatal two-vehicle collision that happened on Friday, February 18, 2022 on Highway 16 west of Newdale, Manitoba.

Police say that a pickup truck travelling west crossed into the eastbound lanes and collided with an eastbound semi-truck. The collision caused both vehicles to burst into flames which fully engulfed them.

The two occupant in the pickup a 45-year-old Alberta male and a 60-year-old Ontario male were pronounced dead at the scene. The 53-year-old driver of the semi received minor injuries and was treated at the scene.

Police say that blizzard conditions at the time of the collision are believed to be factors in the collision.

The investigation continues.
