One death and 76 cases of COVID-19 identified Wednesday

76 new cases of COVID-19 identified in the province today. One additional deaths reported due to the virus.

Those who died from COVID-19 are identified as:

  • a male in his 80s from the Winnipeg health region and linked to the outbreak at St. Boniface Hospital unit 5B.

The five-day test positivity rate is currently 5.9 per cent provincially and 4.3 per cent in Winnipeg.

The total number of lab-confirmed cases in Manitoba is 31,007.

Today’s cases are from the following health regions:

  • five cases in the Interlake-Eastern health region;
  • 44 cases in the Northern health region;
  • two case in the Prairie Mountain Health region;
  • two cases in the Southern Health–Santé Sud health region; and
  • 23 cases in the Winnipeg health region.

There are currently 1,555 active cases of COVID-19 in Manitoba with 28,576 people listed as recovered.

231 people are being treated in the hospital of which 89 are considered infectious. 28 people with the virus are in Intensive Care Units with 15 of them still considered infectious.

876 Manitobans have died since COVID-19 first arrived in the province.

1,143 tests were completed yesterday. Since the virus first arrived in February 2020, there have been 504,682 tests completed.

Outbreaks have been declared at Valleyview Care Centre Long Term Care Home in Brandon and Health Science Centre GA5 and St. Boniface Hospital unit A6South, both in Winnipeg.
