Public health reports four deaths and 119 new cases

119 new cases of COVID-19 identified in the province today. Four more people died from the virus.

Those who died from COVID-19 are identified as:

  • a male in his 60s from the Interlake-Eastern health region;
  • a male in his 90s from the Northern health region;
  • a male in his 60s from the Southern Health – Santé Sud health region, linked to an outbreak at the Rock Lake Hospital in Crystal City; and
  • a female in her 80s from the Southern Health – Santé Sud health region, linked to an outbreak at the Rock Lake Hospital in Crystal City.

The five-day test positivity rate is currently 7.9 per cent provincially and 4.5 per cent in Winnipeg.

The total number of lab-confirmed cases in Manitoba is 29,564.

Today’s cases are from the following health regions:

  • 35 cases in the Interlake-Eastern health region;
  • 49 cases in the Northern health region;
  • two cases in the Prairie Mountain Health region;
  • six cases in the Southern Health–Santé Sud health region; and
  • 27 cases in the Winnipeg health region.

There are currently 3,503 active cases of COVID-19 in Manitoba with 25,232 people listed as recovered.

259 people are being treated in the hospital of which 108 are considered infectious. 39 people with the virus are in Intensive Care Units with 29 of them still considered infectious.

829 Manitobans have died since COVID-19 first arrived in the province.

1,459 tests were completed yesterday. Since the virus first arrived in February 2020, there have been 477,207 tests completed.

An outbreak has been declared at the Rest Haven Nursing Home in Steinbach.
