12,870 fewer doses of Pfizer vaccine will be shipped

Manitoba has confirmed that 12,870 fewer doses of the Pfizer vaccine will be shipped to the province by the end of March.

People who have already received their first dose will still be able to get their second dose within the recommended window of 28 days but those with appointments scheduled for the week of February 15 may need to have their appointments rescheduled by several days due to the supply issue.

The province says they are making every effort to minimize the number of people affected. Those with appointments needing to be rescheduled will be contacted by email or text.

People receiving their vaccine in personal care homes will not be affected and will receive their second dose within the 28 day window.

The province says that First Nation communities are also not affected. The Thompson super site will also not be affected when it opens on February 1 as it will be using the Moderna vaccine.
