Female arrested after brandishing gun in a shelter

Winnipeg Police have arrested a 41-year-old female after she was accused of brandishing a firearm inside a Point Douglas shelter Tuesday morning, January 26, 2021.

Police say the incident happened just after 5:00 am. The woman is said to have walked into the shelter and pull out the weapon but police did not elaborate on the reason.

Officers, including a K-9 unit searched the area and soon found the suspect. She was taken into custody. The weapon turned out to be a revolver style pellet gun.

Melissa Sue Komoski has been charged for her alleged involvement with Possession of a Weapon, Carrying Concealed Weapon Prohibited Device or Ammunition and Fail to Comply with Condition of Release Order.

Ahe was detained in custody.
