Manitoba sees a jump in the number of identified cases Friday

Manitoba Public Health announced that as of 9:30 am today there are 350 new cases of COVID-19 in the province and an additional 10 deaths including:

  • a male in his 40s from the Southern Health–Santé Sud health region;
  • a male in his 50s from the Southern Health–Santé Sud health region, linked to the outbreak at the Morris General Hospital;
  • a female in her 60s from the Winnipeg health region;
  • a female in her 70s from the Southern Health–Santé Sud health region;
  • a female in her 80s from the Interlake-Eastern health region, linked to the outbreak at Kin Place;
  • a male in his 80s from the Prairie Mountain Health region, linked to the outbreak at the Gilbert Plains personal care home;
  • a male in his 80s from the Southern Health–Santé Sud health region, linked to the outbreak at the Salem Home;
  • a female in her 90s from the Winnipeg health region, linked to the outbreak at the Convalescent Home of Winnipeg;
  • a female in her 90s from the Winnipeg health region, linked to the outbreak at the Charleswood Care Centre;
  • a male in his 90s from the Southern Health–Santé Sud health region.

The current provincial five-day test positivity rate is 13.6 per cent. The test positivity rate in Winnipeg is 13.1 per cent. The total number of lab-confirmed cases in Manitoba is 22,397.

The data shows that of today’s cases, 40 are from the Interlake-Eastern health region, 89 from Northern health region, 31 from the Prairie Mountain Health region, 57 from Southern Health region and 133 from the Winnipeg health region.

There are currently 305 people being treated in hospital for the virus including 43 who are being treated in intensive care.

As of today 547 Manitobans have died from COVID-19.

There are currently 5,602 active cases. 16,248 people are listed as recovered.

There were 2,167 tests processed yesterday bringing the total number of tests since February to 398,970.

An outbreak has been declared at Thompson General Hospital MSP ward in Thompson.
