Winnipeg Police won’t be investigating Maples PCH

Winnipeg Police Service announced on Tuesday, December 1, 2020, that they will not be investigating Maples Long Term Care Home.

Officers were sent to the home last month after a COVID-19 outbreak claimed the lives of 8 residents in a 48 hour period. There have been 49 deaths linked to the care home as of November 30, 2020.

In a news release the WPS said that they had “conducted a preliminary assessment of the situation at Maples Long Term Care Home. That assessment has ended with a determination that no police investigation will be required at this time.”

Manitoba Health Minister Cameron Friesen announced an investigation into the Maples Long Term Care Home and Parkview Place both owned and operated by Revera. Both facilities have had a high number of COVID-19 cases including multiple deaths.
