Manitoba issues 100 COVID-19 tickets last week

Between November 23 and 29 enforcement officials in Manitoba issued 100 tickets to individuals and businesses who were not following public health orders related to COVID-19.

22 businesses were fined $5,000 and 48 individuals were fined $1,296 for various offences. 23 people received tickets of $298 for failing to wear a mask in indoor or outdoor public places. Manitoba First Nations Police Service handed out seven band bylaw tickets related to COVID-19.

202 warnings were also issued last week according to enforcement officials. The total dollar amount in fines was $181,574.

Of the tickets issued this week the Church of God near Steinbach received a $5,000 fine. Six individuals related to the church also received fines of $1,296.

Springs Church in Winnipeg had one individual issued a $1,296 fine but officials say there are several tickets pending including a business fine of $5,000. Springs church held four drive-in services over the weekend.

Officials say that they are also continuing to investigate the large protest held in Steinbach on November 14 and have so far issued 30 tickets to those who attended. It is expected that more tickets will be issued in the coming days.
