Manitoba Public Health announced there were 54 new cases of the virus on Friday, September 25, 2020. A previously announced case from Winnipeg was removed bringing the net new cases to 53. The total number of lab-confirmed cases stands at 1,764.
The five-day test positivity rate in Manitoba is 2.6 per cent
Four cases in the Southern Health region, two cases in the Interlake-Eastern Health region, two cases in Prairie Mountain Health region, two cases in the Northern Health region and 44 cases in the Winnipeg Health region.
There are 13 people being treated in hospital including six people in intensive care.
There are currently 487 active cases of COVID-19 in the province, with 401 of those in Winnipeg, 1,258 people are listed as recovered.
2,354 laboratory tests were completed yesterday. According to Manitoba Public Health, the total number of completed tests since early February is 173,999.
Manitoba Public Health has moved the Winnipeg region to restricted (Orange) on the Pandemic Response System as of Monday, September 28, 2020.
The move to restricted means that masks are mandatory in all indoor public places and gatherings are restricted to 10 people both indoors and outdoors.
The restrictions will be in place for a minimum of four weeks which is two incubation periods of the virus. Additional restrictions may be put in place at any time according to public health.
Existing orders for schools, child care, retail, museums, theatres and casinos will remain the same for the time being.
Public health say that they are currently consulting with the restaurant industry including bars, beverage rooms, brew pubs, microbreweries and distilleries on steps could be taken to lower the risk of COVID-19 transmission. More restrictions may be put in place after the consultations.

- Rural Municipality (RM) of Cartier;
- RM of Headingley;
- RM of Macdonald;
- RM of Ritchot;
- RM of Rockwood;
- RM of Rosser;
- RM of Springfield;
- RM of St. Andrews;
- RM of St. Clements;
- RM of St. François Xavier;
- RM of Taché;
- RM of West St. Paul;
- RM of East St. Paul;
- Town of Niverville; and
- Village of Dunnottar.
River East Collegiate is dealing with a confirmed case of COVID-19 from September 18. The virus was not acquired at the school and the exposure is considered low.
Concordia Place and Fred Douglas Lodge personal care homes have returned to the Caution (Yellow) level.
Public health is continuing to advise Winnipeg residents and visitors to the city to stay home if sick, wash your hands, cover your cough and physically distance when you are with people outside your household. If you cannot physically distance, you should wear a mask to help reduce your risk. Reduce the number of close contacts outside your household, and avoid closed-in or crowded spaces.
Officials advise that only people showing symptoms of COVID-19 should go for testing. If you do have symptoms you should seek testing as soon as possible once symptoms appear.
