55 new cases of COVID-19 announced including 19 in Winnipeg

Manitoba Public Health announced 55 new cases of COVID-19 on Saturday, August 29, 2020. The total number of lab-confirmed cases stands at 1,155.

The current five-day COVID-19 test positivity rate is 2.6 per cent.

31 of the new cases are in the Prairie Mountain Health region, five new cases in the Southern Health region, 19 cases in the Winnipeg Health region.

Public health says that 19 of the cases announced today are close contacts of previously-announced cases.

On Friday five people were reported being treated for the virus in hospital with one person in intensive care. Public health noted in a media release “Due to data system upgrades this weekend, hospitalization and intensive care unit data are not available today. It is expected this data will be available on Sunday.”

There are currently 444 active cases of COVID-19 in the province with 693 people listed as recovered.

The number of deaths related to COVID-19 is 14.

1,293 laboratory tests were completed on Friday. According to Manitoba Public Health, the total number of completed tests since early February is 133,378.
