Two females charged in July assault on BLM protesters

Winnipeg Police have arrested and charged two females in connection to an assault at Broadway and Carlton Street on July 4, 2020.

A male and a female who were involved in a Black Lives Matter protest at the Manitoba Legislature where making their way to the Canadian Human Rights Museum when they got into a confrontation with people in a vehicle who were driving in the area.

During the confrontation two females got out of the vehicle with hockey sticks and assaulted both victims. Neither victim was seriously injured and did not require any medical attention.

WPS Major Crimes Unit investigated and were able to identify two suspects.

A 24-year-old female and a 29-year-old female were both charged for their alleged involvement with two counts of Assault with a Weapon.

Both suspects were released on a promise to appear in court.
