Manitoba Public Health announced that a male in his 60s from Grey health district in the Southern Health region has died. 15 new cases of COVID-19 on Wednesday, August 19, 2020, as of 9:30 am. The total number of lab-confirmed and probable cases stands at 763.
The current five-day COVID-19 test positivity rate is 1.6 per cent.
13 of the new cases are in the Prairie Mountain Health region, one new case in the Southern Health region, and one case in the Winnipeg Health region.
The cases identified today include:
Prairie Mountain Health Region 13 CASES
- One male and one female between 10 and 19
- One female in her 20s
- One female and two males in their 30s
- Two females and two males in their 40s
- Two females and two males in their 50s
Southern Health Region ONE CASES
- One male in his 40s
Winnipeg Health Region ONE CASES
- One male in his 30s
Public health says that the Prairie Mountain Health region cases are mostly related to contacts to known cases. Some of the cases within the region are unknown as to how they were acquired.

There are currently 223 active cases of COVID-19 in the province with 523 people listed as recovered.
Six people are being treated in the hospital of which two are in intensive care.
The number of deaths related to COVID-19 is 12.
1,376 laboratory tests were completed on Tuesday. According to Manitoba Public Health the total number of completed tests since early February to 118,364.
Public health officials are advising of a potential exposure to COVID-19 may have occurred on Aug. 13 and 14 (3 to 10 p.m) and Aug. 15 (3 to 7 p.m.) at the Wigwam Restaurant located at 132 Wasagaming Dr. in Wasagaming.
Unless recommended by Public Health, only individuals experiencing COVID-19 symptoms should go for testing. People with symptoms are asked to seek testing as soon as possible once symptoms are present.
