Suspect facing 23 charges related to multiple robberies

A 25-year-old male suspect is facing nearly two dozen charges after he allegedly robbed several Winnipeg businesses and used a stolen truck in an attempt to flee from police.

Just after 8:00 pm on Monday, August 10, 2020 police responded to a robbery at a Henderson Highway food store.

Police say the suspect demanded money from the store staff but did not receive before fleeing in a stolen truck.

Shortly afterwards officers located the vehicle a few blocks away at a restaurant. Once the driver spotted police he fled in the truck and led officers on a pursuit through North Kildonan.

The suspect was soon taken into custody after he turned onto Edison Avenue and while attempting to flee the vehicle.

Police say that the vehicle the suspect was driving at the time of his arrest was reported stolen on August 1st by person living in Fort Alexander.

Investigators from the Major Crimes Unit were able to link the suspect to three other robberies between August 3rd and August 9th.

On August 3 the suspect is accused of robbing a convenience store in the 2500 block of Main Street. On August 7 he allegedly robbed a Henderson Highway convenience store at gunpoint. On August 9 he is accused of robbing a convenience store on Springfield Road. In all three robberies he received an undisclosed amount of cash.

Kyle Jeremy Pelletier was charged for his alleged involvement with:

  • Armed Robbery using a Restricted Firearm or Prohibited Firearm
  • Robbery (x3)
  • Disguise with Intent (x4)
  • Poss of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000
  • Flight While Pursued by Peace Officer
  • Dangerous Operation of a Conveyance
  • Possession of a Weapon (x2)
  • Possession of a Firearm Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized
  • Use of Firearm During Commission of an Indictable Offence
  • Careless Use of Firearm, Weapon, Prohibited Device or Ammunition
  • Pointing a Firearm
  • Carrying Concealed Weapon Prohibited Device or Ammunition
  • Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm in Motor Vehicle
  • Possession of Firearm, Restricted/Prohibited Weapon or Ammunition Contrary to Prohibition Order
  • Fail to Comply with Condition of Release Order (x3)

Pelletier was detained in custody.
