Identified COVID-19 cases increase by 17 on Friday

Manitoba Public Health announced 17 new cases of COVID-19 on Friday, August 7, 2020, as of 9:30 am. The total number of lab-confirmed and probable cases stands at 491.

10 of the new cases are in the Prairie Mountain Health region linked to a cluster of cases in Brandon, two new cases in the Southern Health region and five new cases in the Winnipeg health region. 

There are currently 132 active cases of COVID-19 in the province with 351 listed as recovered.

Nine people are being treated in hospital of which three are in intensive care.

The total number of deaths in Manitoba related to COVID-19 remains at eight.

1,452 laboratory tests were completed on Thursday, bringing the total number of tests completed since early February to 96,999.

A case related to a Tim Hortons on 18th Street in Brandon occurred on August 1 may be a potential exposure site. Public health officials say that the risk of transmission is considered very low. Anyone who was in the business on the date in question should self-monitor and self-isolate for 14 days should symptoms develop.
