The largest spike in COVID-19 cases since April identified on Thursday

Manitoba Public Health announced 30 new cases of COVID-19 on Thursday, August 6, 2020, as of 9:30 am. The total number of lab-confirmed and probable cases stands at 474.

This is the highest number of cases in a single day since the beginning of April 2020.

18 of the new cases are in the Prairie Mountain Health region linked to a cluster of cases in Brandon, 11 new cases in the Southern Health region and one new case in the Winnipeg health region. 

There are currently 118 active cases of COVID-19 in the province with 348 listed as recovered.

10 people are being treated in hospital of which five are in intensive care.

The total number of deaths in Manitoba related to COVID-19 remains at eight.

564 laboratory tests were completed on Wednesday, bringing the total number of tests completed since early February to 95,547.

Manitoba Public Health are advising that there is a potential exposure to COVID-19 from an Air Canada flight (AC8595) from Montreal to Winnipeg on July 29, 2020.

Travellers in rows 16 to 22 should self isolate for 14 days. All other passengers on the plane should self-monitor for symptoms and self-isolate if they develop.
